Empowering Teachers. Uplifting Students. Strengthening Our Future.

Teachers are the backbone of our community, and students are the future we’re building. But right now, many educators lack support, and many students face barriers inside and outside the classroom. Salt Lake County must step up and be a partner in public education.

The Problem:

-Many students face mental health challenges, food insecurity, or lack of access to basic support services.

- Teachers are often underpaid, overworked, and under-supported, especially in Title I schools.

- County partnerships with schools for wraparound services like counseling, nutrition, and family outreach are inconsistent.Aaron’s Plan: From Crisis to Community

1. Expand Access to Mental Health Services – Fund new clinics in underserved areas and expand mobile care units.

2. Strengthen Women’s Health Infrastructure – Invest in prenatal, maternal, and reproductive care centers on the West Side and rural pockets of the county.

3. Normalize Care Through Education – Launch campaigns that reduce stigma around therapy, prevention, and early intervention.

Aaron’s Plan: County Commitment to Classroom Success

1. Support School-Based Mental Health – Fund counselors and partnerships with community mental health providers.

2. Expand After-School and Tutoring Programs – Work with nonprofits to bring more services directly into public schools.

3. Elevate Teacher Voice and Value – Advocate for stronger county-school collaboration and recognize teacher leadership in local government decisions.

Why this Mattres

Because great schools don’t happen by accident—they happen when communities step up. Supporting teachers and students isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s an investment in the future of Salt Lake County.

What the County is Doing Now

Salt Lake County partners with school districts on select health and safety programs, but the support is limited and varies by area. Schools in West Side communities especially need more wraparound support and county-level engagement.
